Early Life
A native of Delta State, Nigeria, Elvis Akpobi’s journey began at the esteemed Delta Steel Company Primary School, now known as Premium Steel Schools. It was during his secondary education at Technical High School (DSC) that he not only excelled academically but also showcased his leadership skills as a theatre art coordinator. These formative years laid the foundation for his unwavering commitment to empowering the youth.


Education
Elvis Akpobi’s educational journey commenced at the prestigious Delta Steel Company Primary School, now known as Premium Steel Schools in Delta State. Instilled with discipline and moral values during his secondary education at Technical High School (DSC), where he also served as a theatre art coordinator, he furthered his studies. Elvis holds a degree in Geophysics from the
Federal University of Technology Owerri and pursued Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at the Petroleum Training Institute Warri, Delta State. Currently a Ph.D. student in Environmental Management and Toxicology at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun, he also earned an MSc from the same institution.


Career
Elvis Akpobi’s professional journey has been marked by a commitment to youth empowerment and leadership development. Initially serving as a technical officer with the Delta State Ministry of Water Resources, he later assumed the role of Personal Assistant to the Honorable Commissioner for Special Duties in the Government House. Dissatisfied with the absence of
young people in leadership positions, he founded and registered the Not Too Young To Lead initiative, a youth advocacy and social development group. In 2019, Elvis was appointed the Special Assistant on Youths Development to Former Governor
Ifeanyi Okowa. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in promoting extensive youth inclusion within the SMART agenda of the Delta State Government. Additionally, he convened the Delta Volunteer Group, an active force of volunteers affiliated with the Not Too Young To Lead Initiative, committed to driving positive impacts in various communities across the State. Elvis Akpobi’s career also extends to international platforms, as he serves as the Nigerian Ambassador to the Young Political Leadership School Africa (Liberia). He led young Nigerians to Liberia for the YPLSA in 2021 and 2023, also serving as an international strategic observer for the 2023 October 10 General Elections in Liberia.

Impactful Initiatives and Recognitions
Elvis Akpobi’s impactful endeavors in youth development have garnered widespread acclaim and recognition. Notable among these accolades are the 2020 Award of Recognition for his significant contributions to youth development by the Delta State Government, Nomination for the 2019 Prize for Community Actions, and the 2019 Delta Unsung Heroes Award. His
recognition as one of the 100 most influential young individuals in Delta State in 2020 further attests to his influence and impact.

Community Projects and Leadership

With an impressive track record, Elvis Akpobi has spearheaded numerous community projects in rural African communities. These initiatives encompass providing essential school materials to underprivileged children, offering scholarships, facilitating free skills acquisition programs, and organizing fully funded leadership boot camps tailored for young Africans. His unwavering dedication to youth development has led to fruitful collaborations with local and international organizations, engaging in strategic dialogues and facilitating the implementation of diverse initiatives. Demonstrating his broad expertise and extensive network, Elvis Akpobi serves on the advisory boards of numerous non-governmental organizations, community groups, and professional associations. His relentless commitment to driving youth engagement and advocacy efforts actively contributes to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in areas such as sustainable development, human rights, peace and security, and humanitarian action.
